I'll buy it again if/when this one finally dies. As a bonus, I also use it with my XBOX 360 controllers (both with the attached messenger keyboard and without) for online gaming. The 2.5mm jack means it won't fit on some mobile phones (this is smaller than a standard headphone jack), but for my Blackberry it's great (both 8820 and Pearl). It's not as cool as the wireless headsets (bluetooth etc) but it doesn't take batteries, doesn't have to be recharged and isn't subject to interference. This is a decent quality headset and sound quality from the ear piece is standard Plantronics quality (i.e. very good). Some people have observed that I sound a little distant with this headset while plugged into the wireless XBOX controller, but repositioning the mic to be as close to my mouth as possible fixes it.There is an adjustable mic sensitivity switch on the plug, but this doesn't seem to make any difference to people at the far end of the conversation. It's held up quite well over the past few years, being stuffed in bags and traveling around.
Versatile. Convenient in-line mute, mic and earpiece volume controls. IMO better than similar Panasonic (with the silly foam covered boom mic). Good sound quality. Good price. Will get uncomfortable for all-day users.
This is the second Plantronics replacement headset I've bought, and they've both been useless. This one has a pulsing distortion noise in the earphone, unacceptable again.Guess I'll just cut the short out of my old cord.I wish I'd bought it at Amazon, so I could just drop the return in the mail like the other one. I bought a Plantronics cordless cordless unit and headset five years ago, both were flawless 'till the headset cord shorted. The M214C had unacceptable mic volume, no one could hear me.
It is also durable and a good choice for the heavy business traveller who expects to be on the phone a lot (I routinely have 1-2 hour calls several times a day) and needs a headset that can take the abuse of routine travel (stuffed in briefcase, jacket pockets, etc). I spent significant time and effort playing with Bluetooth and other wired headsets and have found this to be simply the best. etc. While I would only echo the other comments with my accolades for this product, I also wanted to note that, when used in conjuntion with a standard PC splitter for headsets, it also supports Skype and GoToMeeting just as well. I found a very compact 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapter and use it on my iPhone and office phone as a SINGLE SOLUTION. A few adapters required, but overall the best solution for every reason: sound quality, comfort, portability, spectrum of communications equipment it pairs with, mute/volume features, noice cancellation, RF buzz reduction, etc.
The improvement was far beyond my expectations. I bought this to help me communicate with my 87-year-old mother who is becoming progressively hard of hearing. I just had the first real conversation with my mother since the last time I saw her in person.
